For those of you who follow me on instagram you’ll see that I recently got a lavender tattoo. For those of you wondering what that’s about look into the women’s movements of the late 60s/early 70s. In the beginning, lady-lovers were shunned, given the name “Lavender Menace” by Betty Friedan. Joke’s on her though, the name was adopted by these women as they protested such discrimination. It is to be noted that for awhile, a woman who identified as a lesbian took this as a political title and they did not necessarily have sexy time with other women…I mean some did, but who can blame them?
ANYWAY
I got this tattoo as I always wanted a something to remind me of how significant my sexual orientation is to me and how much it has already shaped my view of life and my experiences.Wanna know something? I got it on a whim while I was in Louisiana with Jordan. You see, this wouldn’t be a big deal had I not already made an appointment with an artist friend of mine to do a big ole piece on the side of my chest. Whatever, right? I mean, it’s going to happen regardless, just thought I would share :)
As I’m sure you’re DYING to know, currently I have three tattoos on ma bod.My BuddhaMy fern leafMy lavenderWho’s excited to see big honker number 4?!

I have 4 and plan to have a lot more. The ones I already have: five colored stars on my back behind my left shoulder; a really big red bow on my lower back; a antique locker with two flowers around it on my right forearm and a cat with a psychedelic background on my left forearm. :D
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to send the pictures here so you'll have to imagine them :P
Did the cat on your left forearm hurt?!
DeleteNot so much. I think it hurts more the upper in the arm you go (towards the inner part of the elbow). Te one in my right forearm didn't hurt much either, but the healing took a little longer than usual, since it was closer to the wrist. It swelled a lot.
DeleteHow is your chest tattoo healing?
I wish I could put some pictures here
